has now changed and foreigners can now own property in Mexico including
the restricted zone. To purchase a property in the restricted zone,
a Fideicomiso is set up with a Mexican Bank. A Fideicomiso is a
trust set up with a Mexican Bank, who holds the ownership to the
Mexican property on behalf of the foreign owner. The Fideicomiso
or trust, is renewable every 50 years in perpetuity. The foreigner
has full rights of ownership and can use, rent, sell or will their
property as though they owned the property directly.
